CBDPC 2005 with my critique
of each shot Chris Simmons 5/28/2005 |
umbrella crabs | rockfish | cabezone |
coralline sculpin | shrimp |
Equipment:
-Nikon N90s in an Aquatica 90 housing
-two Ikelite Substrobe 200s on ULCS 12-12 arms
Wide Angle:
(24 shots) 50 minutes, max depth 68 feet
North Monastary around the front side of the wash rock (for the cab shot),
south edge of the kelp in 35' for the rockfish/kelp shot. I also played around
with a bunch of very shallow ambient light shots which didn't turn out the
way I wanted them to. (time to experiment with sun placement and exposure in
shallow water)
-8" dome port with extension for 17-35
-Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8 Zoom (kind of all over the map for the focal length of
the shots I took. both of my WA shots were at 17mm.)
Macro:
(13 shots) 68 minutes, max depth 33 feet
North Monastary in shallow water chasing sculpins around the boulders (all
of the ones I found didn't want to sit still.) Didn't find any kelpfish.
I photographed a maroon snubnose sculpin on good negative space. (but, composition
and out of focus sea barf in front of him ruled out entering any of those
images)
-Flat port with extension for 105
-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 Micro (TTL, all at f/22, most shot at near 1-to-1, the
coralline sculpin is closer to 1-to-2)
